NEW WORK: Cute overload!

Robert Borges and Celeste McKeon of Sterling-Rice Group approached me a few months ago to help them with a new campaign - “Cute you can eat” - for their client SunPacific Cuties. You know, the little clementines. The idea behind this campaign was that there are a lot of cute things out there, but only one that you can actually eat – Cuties. So we shot situations that were insanely cute, like sleeping puppies, piles of Persian kittens, floating hedgehogs, a beagle pup licking a super-chubby baby, (you get the picture), then offering up the Cuties clementines as "cute you CAN eat". The creative team wanted imagery that looked and felt like the popular "cute kids and animal" viral videos that are constantly blowing up the internet.

Robert's and Celeste's ideas and layouts blew me away. And the radio spots were hilarious too (but I didn't shoot those). I was really excited to be on board and work with such an amazing creative duo! We immediately got busy casting cute babies, puppies, kittens and hedgehogs and even a cavy. Yes a cavy. It was anything but difficult.

And obviously the working conditions were unbearable, what with the cast licking my face, nibbling my fingers, their fuzzy little faces tickling my cheeks. Torturous!

In the end my team and I produced and directed video for tv and the web as well as photography for banners and outdoor ads. I acted as the Executive Producer, Director, DP and Photographer, and was able to create and manage things from beginning to end.

Celeste, the Art Director, commented “This is the smoothest (and furriest) shoot I’ve ever been on.” And I have to say, I agree with her.
