Spring Showers

On a recent cold and drizzly May afternoon, in our raincoats and boots, my son and I took a walk around our boring neighborhood. I'm lucky that I get to take walks with a 2 year old. I get to realize that our neighborhood's not so boring afterall. Especially when it's raining.

First Photoshoot: 1977

When I first started shooting, at the age of seven, I was a still-life photographer. The blown out part in the center is a Shaun Cassidy album. Clearly didn't understand flash back then, or music for that matter.

Chives and Irene

The painters are now gone and the house looks beautiful. It's the garden that I need to get busy "rebuilding." The painters actually did a good job of not trampling on everything, I'm surprised, so I think I can get things back on track quickly. I started with a simple (very simple, Willow branches) trellis for a clematis that climbed a birdbath last year, which it outgrew. So I'm trying this. And I added about 250 tulip, hyacinth, narcissus etc. bulbs to the garden last Fall. This is my favorite: Princess Irene. I didn't realize it would be so beautiful! They're scattered among Lily of the Valley and white Bleeding Hearts. They play nicely together. (No, I'm not trying to bore you. Really, I'm not trying to, I just am.)

Too Funny

I thought this sign was too funny not to share.

Writing on the Wall

I finished the sign for his door. Maybe a little girlie but I'm hoping it will last a couple years before he wants trucks on every wall. The handwriting I did myself, scanned it in and played with it so each character played together nicely. The other design elements were scanned in from wall cards I purchased and love by the artist Melissa Sweet. Her work inspired the trees, birds and grass painted in the room. (final size approx. 14" wide)

Blue

I can't resist anything in this color blue. This is a handmade sweater, purchased in Boston, that is so beautiful it makes me wish I could knit. (Well, almost.)

Dropping Like Flies

More and more magazines are closing up shop everyday in this economy. It's very sad. Especially as I'm an editorial photographer. One of my favorite magazines to work for and to subscribe to is/was Wondertime. This magazine not only excelled at great content and design, it was full of wonderfully creative ideas and advice for parents. It's a great loss!
